The Caltex Socceroos will be out to make a statement of intent when they host Nepal in Canberra this October, says Matt McKay.
Although Australia gets their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ campaign underway against Kuwait on September 10, the wheels should be well and truly motoring when Graham Arnold’s squad descend on Canberra on October 10.

It is the first match the Green and Gold have played in the nation’s capital since November 2015, a 3-0 win over Kyrgyz Republic.
“They’re all important, but I think the first one in Australia has a bit of edge to it," McKay told www.socceroos.com.au.
“You want to go and show that the team's up for it for this campaign and set a standard for what’s to come.
“You want to put on a show for the Canberra public and I’m sure they will.”

McKay - who was part of the Australia squad who hosted Kyrgyz Republic nearly four years ago - added that he could not wait for the likes of Aaron Mooy, Maty Ryan and hometown hero Tom Rogic to return Down Under.
“Knowing Arnie, I think he’ll select the best team every single game. The full squad will be out there, we need a result, we need to make a statement throughout this first phase of qualifying,” McKay said.
“The squad overall love coming to Canberra. I’m sure the players that come out here will do us proud.”
