Yorke pleased with Bulls progression

Macarthur FC Head Coach, Dwight Yorke says his new look side are building nicely following Wednesday’s 4-0 Australia Cup win over Modbury Jets at Service FM Stadium.

Yorke took charge of his second competitive match as Lachie Rose bagged a brace while Al Hassan Toure and Charles M’Mombwa also got their names on the scoresheet to send the Bulls through to the Quarter Finals for the first time.

The comprehensive victory over the South Australian State League One Premiers follows on from the Bulls 6-0 Round of 32 win over Magpies Crusaders United.

Yorke said early sides were promising from his new-look side, who have made seven new signings ahead of the new season.

“We’ve managed to be resilient, when you look at the two games we’ve played, there’s a lot of positives, we’ve scored ten goals and conceded none,” York said.

“Teams aren’t going to lie down against us, when you come to play, you’ve got to earn the right to win, that’s something that I stress in the dressing room and when we do our team talk.

“Teams are going to come at us, we need to be resilient and fight to win a football match and my team showed some character in that sense today, getting the first goal certainly made us settle down a little better.”

Daniel Arzani who joined Macarthur from Manchester City last month made his first start in Bulls colours, playing 65 minutes in Wednesday’s win.

Yorke said he was excited by what the 23-year-old playmaker would bring to his side this season.

“We are lucky to have someone of his (Arzani) quality, he’s experienced, we know there’s a lot happening in and around him in terms of the media hype but he’s now back with us, we’re going to work with him to get him back to where we think he belongs,” Yorke said.

“But he’s certainly got a lot, we’re working on his fitness, he’s not been back with us very long so he’s still a bit match short.

“Certainly in terms of his contribution to us he’s a huge player for us and a player that can be very exciting and compelling for us, so we’re excited to have him on board and it’s my duty to try and get the best out of him which I’m sure we will.”

Joining the Bulls in the Australia Cup Quarter Finals are Sydney FC who defeated Bentleigh Greens 2-1 on Wednesday night, the remainder of the Round of 16 ties are set to be played over the next seven days.
