New Sydney FC signing Yairo Yau believes the pace he can add to Sydney FC will be the catalyst to bring more success to the Sky Blues.

The Panamanian international completed his first training session with his new Sky Blues- teammates and told waiting media he had come to Sydney for one thing.

“I have signed to win a championship and to help the team win a championship,” Yau said through an interpreter.

"I want to be one of the most important players in the team and I already feel at home with all of the players.”

The 22-year-old striker arrived in Australia last week on a season loan from Panamanian club Sporting San Miguelito and wants to make a big impact.

“I hope I can change the game here, score goals and make a difference in the speed of the game. I-m very dynamic and want to provide that killer pass as well,” he said.

Sydney boss Ian Crook said he was happy with what he saw from his newest recruit on his first day, but refrained from putting too much pressure on him.

“[I expect] he scores 30 and we win the league by 10 points, but apart from that nothing really," Crook joked.

“No, I have my own expectations and I-ll drive towards them. I-m not a big believer in going out and saying we-re going to do this and that.

“We have a belief in something we want to achieve and if we achieve that at the end of the year then I-ll be happy,” said Crook.

But Crook does think his new striker brings something new to his side.

“He-s got pace which is something we desperately felt we needed in that front third and he-ll be exciting.

“We need to be able to keep possession and that is going to be the key for us. I don-t want it to become an end to end game like a basketball game,” he continued.

“I want us to be able to try and control possession and if we can do that then we will give ourselves a chance, if we don-t then we-ll struggle.”
