10-man Victory hold on for breakthrough win

Yazid Said continued his excellent goalscoring form as Victory prevailed 2-1 over Adelaide United at Marvel Stadium.

Said tapped in from close range on 12 minutes for his fourth goal in as many games, before a Jared Clark own goal doubled Victory’s lead before the break.

Adelaide hit back through a Kristin Konstandopoulos penalty in the second-half and despite seeing Luke Goulding sent off late on, Victory held on for the first win of the season.

Dominant Sky Blues topple the Mariners

Sydney FC stayed top of Conference B in the Foxtel Y-League with a well-deserved 2-0 win over the Mariners at Tuggerah.

Despite squandering a host of first-half chances, the Sky Blues pounced after the break with an own goal from Mariners defender Michael Glassock and a late strike from Marco Tilio.

While he was on the end of a defeat, it was a significant match for Mariners defender Jonathan Aspropotamitis, who played 65 minutes in his first game back after an ACL injury.

Wanderers soar over Jets

Western Sydney Wanderers have kept pace with fierce rivals Sydney FC in Conference B after a 3-0 demolition of the Newcastle Jets at Valentine Sports Park.

The goals were scored by Andrea Agamemnonos, Lachlan Scott and Tate Russell to make it three wins out of four for Western Sydney this season.

Roar ramp things up with win over Glory

Brisbane Roar overcame a slow start to go top of Conference A in the Foxtel Y-League with a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Perth Glory at Lions Stadium.

All three goals came in the first 25 minutes, with Chris Harold giving the visitors the lead from the spot after Stefan Nigro was adjudged to have handled in the box.

Shannon Brady hit back for Roar with a shot which deflected in off Glory keeper Jackson Lee, before Mirza Muratovic scored his third of the season to ensure all three points for the hosts.
