Westfield W-League Save of Round 11 – Lily Alfeld

Lily Alfeld may have been beaten four times by a rampant Newcastle Jets outfit but Perth Glory's goalkeeper still came out with Save of the Round honours, as chosen by Melbourne Victory goalkeeper Casey Dumont.

The Western Australians went down 4-0 against the Hunter outfit at Dorrien Gardens on Monday but a fantastic reaction stop by the 25-year-old New Zealander was enough to earn the plaudits from Dumont.

"Lily Alfeld made what was for me the standout save of the week against Newcastle on Monday, despite her team going down to another defeat," Dumont said.

"It was a cross to Tara Andrews that created the chance and we know Tara is exceptionally good in the air, especially from such close range.

"But Lily made a reaction save, using her whole body to tip over a header with a lot of power behind it – and it was Lily’s positioning that meant she could make the save in the first place."
