Westfield Matildas keeper Arnold joins Norwegian club

Westfield Matildas goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold will spend the upcoming season in Norway after signing with Arna-Bjørnar.

The 24-year-old confirmed the news on her Instagram account on Sunday.

Bjørnar play in the Toppserien, the top tier of Norwegian football, with the club finishing sixth in the 12-team league in 2017.

The new season kicks off on March 24 with Bjørnar away to Klepp in their first league match, though Arnold is likely to be away on national team duty.

Arnold is coming off an outstanding Westfield W-League campaign with Brisbane Roar where she kept an impressive six clean sheets in 12 matches.

Remarkably, she conceded just 12 goals for the entire campaign, the fewest in the competition.

Her stellar form earned her a call-up to the Matildas squad for this month’s Algarve Cup, with the shot-stopper starting in Australia’s wins over Norway and China in Portugal.

She is expected to be included in Alen Stajcic's squad for April's Asian Cup in Jordan.
