WATCH: Knight’s incredible ‘scorpion kick’ keeps Bulleen alive as Victorian clubs close in on Round of 32

Bulleen Lions midfielder Josh Knight channelled his inner Riley McGree by scoring a stunning ‘scorpion kick’ goal in his side’s FFA Cup preliminary round win on Tuesday night.

With his back to goal, Knight produced an outrageous bit of skill to loop the ball over the 'keeper and into the net to hand his side a 2-1 win over Northcote City.

Making the viral-video-worthy strike even sweeter is that Knight – a former Wales youth international – used to play for Northcote.

Knight’s jaw-dropping goal – his second of the match – is sure to draw comparisons to McGree’s freakish effort in Newcastle Jets’ Hyundai A-League Semi Final clash with Melbourne City in 2018.

McGree’s unbelievable strike went on to be nominated for the 2018 FIFA Puskas Award, up against the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Gareth Southgate and eventual-winner Mo Salah to determine the best goal of 2018 from around the globe.

Knight’s stunner capped a dramatic evening of FFA Cup action in Victoria, which included last year’s quarter-finalists Avondale FC being eliminated.

The Avengers went down 2-1 after extra-time against Melbourne Knights in a thrilling encounter at Knights Stadium.

Avondale took the lead early in the second half through Yusuf Ahmed but the home side drew level 12 minutes from time with a towering header from former Wellington Phoenix striker Hamish Watson.

The just five minutes into extra-time, Gino Albano was on hand to tap-in from close range after a superb cross from the right.

Elsewhere, former FFA Cup semi-finalists South Melbourne advanced to Round 8 with a 2-1 win over Langwarrin, while Moreland Zebras eased past Westgate FC 2-0.

A second-half goal from Joe Guest was enough for Oakleigh Cannons to squeeze past Werribee City 1-0, while Altona Magic disposed of Eltham Redbacks 3-0.

There are two fixtures left in Round 7 to be played tonight (Wednesday) in Victoria, with Hume City hosting Bentleigh Greens and Geelong SC taking on St Albans Saints.
