Melbourne Victory 1-0 Perth Glory

Victory had their fearsome front three starting together for the first time and it paid immediate dividends as they secured a vital three points at home.

Robbie Kruse was the match-winner for Marco Kurz’s men, scoring his first goal in the Hyundai A-League in more than 3,000 days.

Brisbane Roar 2-0 Central Coast Mariners

Robbie Fowler’s side surged into the top six as they overran the Mariners after the break for their second win of the campaign.

Leading scorer Roy O’Donovan got the Roar rolling before a first goal for the club for defender Scott Neville made it back to back home wins for Brisbane.

Newcastle Jets 2-0 Western Sydney Wanderers

Both keepers stood out in a see-sawing contest in the Hunter which swung in the home side’s favour after the introduction of young gun Angus Thurgate.

Thurgate – known as the Port Macquarie Pele – scored the Jets’ opener then set-up the second for Dimitri Petratos as Ernie Merrick’s men made it back-to-back wins.

Western United FC 0-2 Sydney FC

Mark Rudan's side were punished in a contest where Western United commanded all of the ball but could not convert their possession into chances.

English hitman Adam Le Fondre needed only two sniffs of goal and he fired a double, with the help of the inspirational Alexander Baumjohann, to lift the Sky Blues to the top of the ladder.

Adelaide United 1-2 Wellington Phoenix

Starting the round rock bottom of the Hyundai A-League, Phoenix came out firing and had the Reds clinging on for dear life – until Nikola Mileusnic changed everything with an earth-shattering volley.

That prompted a dazzling, quick-fire turnaround from Ufuk Talay's men, with goals from David Ball and Ulises Davila flipping the script and sealing back-to-back wins for Wellington.
