Tony Popovic's preparations for the Hyundai A-League season have continued with Western Sydney Wanderers defeating Brisbane club WDSC Wolves FC 1-0.

The game was played in three 30 minute periods, to allow Popovic to rotate his squad throughout the match.

The shifting squads meant it wasn't a flowing game, and it remained scoreless until Mark Bridge converted a pentalty with 10 minutes to go.

Popovic said it was another chance for his young side to learn how to play together.

“It was a very competitive match, it was a good hit-out, played on a nice pitch and we got to run out a few of our new players and trialists in the process,” Popovic said.

“Both Dino (Kresinger) and Jerome (Polenz) both had 30 minutes last night so it is all part of going through the right steps to get us to where we want to be.”

The Wanderers will remain in Brisbane until Thursday before heading to Lismore ahead of their match against the Melbourne Heart at Oakes Oval, Lismore on Friday night with kick-off at 7pm.
