Victory shore up the backline with experience

Melbourne Victory has announced the signing of two experienced full-backs ahead of the 2018-19 Hyundai A-League season.

Corey Brown and Storm Roux join the club from Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners respectively, and they'll bring mettle to what was the equal third-best defence in the league last season.

Brown joins from Brisbane where the 24-year-old spent seven years and made 88 appearances for the club.

Corey Brown was a regular fixture at left-back for Australia youth teams.

Roux is a New Zealand international and joins the club from Central Coast Mariners, where the 25-year-old made 105 appearances.

Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat was delighted to have signed the pair to two-year contracts, which will see them remain at the club until the end of the 2019/20 season.

"Both Storm and Corey are exciting prospects and we're really keen to see how they adapt to life as Melbourne Victory players," said Muscat.

Storm Roux
Storm Roux gets through a lot of work on the right-hand side of defence.

"They've both played a lot of senior football, so they're known quantities from that perspective, but still young enough to have plenty of good football ahead of them.

"The squad is starting to take shape and we'll be working hard over the next period to bring in not only some quality foreigners, but also players that will add to the depth and overall quality of the playing group."
