Australian Match Officials Sarah Ho, Allyson Flynn and Ben Williams have all been nominated to receive AFC Awards at the confederation-s annual awards ceremony to be held in Malaysia on Tuesday 26th November.

Ho and Flynn have both been nominated for AFC Women-s Assistant Referee of the Year, while Williams has been nominated for AFC Referee of the Year. The referee awards recognise match officials who have flown the Asian flag high and upheld the spirit of fair play during the past twelve months.

Our Women-s Assistants will go up against Japan-s Teshirogi Naomi for the top accolade. Meanwhile Williams will need to see off fierce competition from Nawaf Abdulla of Bahrain and Yuichi Nishimura of Japan if he is to be crowned AFC Men-s Referee of the Year.

This is a fantastic achievement for our referees to be nominated for the highest possible recognition of awards across all of Asia and showcases the level of officials we have controlling matches in our domestic leagues every weekend.

The AFC awards salute and honour excellence in the sport and has been an annual, keenly-awaited event in the Asian football calendar since 1994. The nominations were announced by the AFC last week with the winners are due to be announced and presented with their trophy at a grand ceremony at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur.
