Sydney FC and Adelaide United secure FFA Cup semi spots

Inaugural Westfield FFA Cup Champions Adelaide United and last year’s Finalists Sydney FC became the first two teams into the Semi Finals of this year’s competition after both secured convincing victories on Wednesday night.

Graham Arnold’s Sky Blues exacted a measure of revenge against Melbourne City FC, the team that defeated them in last year’s Final in Victoria, winning 2-0 at Leichhardt Oval.

Defender Jordy Buijs gave Sydney the lead with a stunning free kick in the seventh minute, before Alex Brosque doubled the Sky Blues’ advantage six minutes after half time to keep Arnold’s men on track to qualify for their second straight Final.
