Sam Kerr named in top 50 footballers in the world

Westfield Matildas captain Sam Kerr has been named in the Goal.com best 50 players in the world.  

The 27 year old was ranked in 11th position on the women's side of the star studded list.  

Voted on by the global football publications  44 editions, Kerr was recognised for her 2019 / 2020 with the Westfield Matildas and her club sides.

At the national team level, Kerr was again in form for the Westfield Matildas, assisting the team in qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics and for Australia's second successive Olympic Women's Football Tournament berth.

Kerr finished the qualification tournament and play offs with four goals, three of them netted in the home and away playoffs against Vietnam.  


At club level, it was a 12 month period that saw the forward win a third consecutive Golden Boot in the American NWSL league. 

She also collected a second Most Valuable Player award, as she helped the Chicago Red Stars to the NWSL Championship final. 

After transferring to Chelsea FC, Kerr continued to pick up team silverware with the Blues claiming the FA Women's Super League title, the Women's League Cup and the Women's Community Shield.  


Kerr is the all-time top-scorer in the Westfield W-League and the NWSL in the United States.
