Brazilian legend Ronaldo has voted Tim Cahill's spectacular goal against the Netherlands as the best of the World Cup to date.
The strike, which saw the Socceroos draw level with the Dutch in their Group B encounter, was Cahill's second of the tournament and fifth at football's showpiece event.
Speaking at a FIFA press conference, the man who jointly holds the record for most World Cup goals with 15, was full of admiration for Cahill's skill.
"It was the best goal of the World Cup and it's going to go down in history as one of the most beautiful World Cup goals," said Ronaldo.
While many critics have chosen Colombia's James Rodriguez's chested volley effort against Uruguay as the goal of the tournament, Cahill already earned a slice of history with his goal against Chile.
His trademark header in Australia's tournament opener seeing him join the elite company to have scored at three consecutive World Cups.
The 34-year-old is certainly not resting on his laurels as he was back playing with his club side, New York Red Bulls within a week of Australia exiting Brazil.
Cahill came off the bench to help rescue a point for his club on his return and played a full-game on the weekend as New York again had to settle for a draw against Houston Dynamo.
The Socceroos striker came close to notching another thunderous volley but unlike his effort against the Netherlands, which cannoned into the goal off the crossbar, this time the woodwork would prove unkind.
