Reds announce two more signings days out from their Westfield W-League campaign

Adelaide United have bolstered their squad with a blend of youth and experience, signing United States international Amber Brooks and promising youngster Charlotte Grant.

Brooks joins the Reds on loan from National Women's Soccer League outfit, Houston Dash, who she has represented more than 60 times.

The 27-year-old American boasts a remarkable pedigree, having previously played for Bayern Munich, Portland Thorns and Seattle Reign, as well as earning an international cap back in 2013.

Head Coach, Ivan Karlović, praised Brooks' game intelligence, and the experience she can bring to his squad.

“Amber arrives in the squad with a wealth of experience having played at the highest level in the United States for the last five years," Karlović told Adelaide United's official website.

“This is, of course, not to mention her time in Germany and her cap for the United States national team, all of which proving just how much quality she boasts.

“She’s a fantastic player and reads the game expertly as a defender or in midfield.

“Amber’s leadership qualities and knowledge of the game will also be extremely beneficial to us throughout the year.”

The Reds' other signing, Grant, 17, won the Female Rising Star and Player of the Year awards on the back of her outstanding season for Football Federation South Australia's National Training Centre Girls team.

Karlovic spoke highly of Grant, who is making her foray into professional football for the first time.

“Charlotte is one of the most talented youngsters in the state and had a magnificent season with the NTC," Karlović told Adelaide United's official website.

“It’s fantastic to have her involved with our team for the new W-League season and I’m looking forward to seeing her in our professional environment and how she handles this next step.

“She has shown immense potential already, and we believe she can take the next step as she continues her development in becoming a top-quality footballer.”

Brooks and Grant are Adelaide United's third and fourth signings in two days, after the Reds announced Fanndís Fridriksdóttir and Gunnhildur Jónsdóttir would be joining the club for Season 2018/19.

Fridriksdóttir, 28, joins from Vandur, and has scored 15 goals in 97 games for the Iceland national team.

30-year-old Jónsdóttir will add some steel to the Reds’ midfield, and maybe even grab the odd goal, having scored nine times in 58 national team appearances.

Adelaide United kick off their Westfield W-League campaign away to Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park on Sunday, October 28. Kick off is at 4.15pm.
