Qantas Australian U-13 Boys Football team draw with Laos
Qantas Australian Under 13 Boys Football team draw with Laos at AFC U14 Festival of Football
Sabah, Malaysia
Wednesday 2 June 2010
The Qantas Australian Under 13 Boys Football Team have kicked off their ‘AFC U14 Festival of Football- Tournament with a 0-0 draw against Laos played out in sweltering conditions in Sabah, Malaysia.
Australia played some exceptional football based on effective possession. Western Australian Jordan Pokler, who occupied the ‘10- role within the 1-4-3-3 system, was the perfect link between defense and attack. Pokler-s ability to receive the ball between the lines and find space against a compact Laos was a highlight of this match as was the precision of his passing.
Unfortunately for all the possession the Australian-s enjoyed they failed to capitalize and towards the end some resolute defending by Australian Captain Adam Berry and the back four was needed to keep the scores level as the oppressive conditions took it-s toll on both teams the longer the game went on.
Unfortunately Australia-s other two matches scheduled for the day were cancelled due to a torrential rainstorm which saw all the tournament-s afternoon matches called off.
The Qantas Australian Under 13 Boys Football Team will play matches against Singapore and Vietnam tomorrow.
