Former Westfield Matilda and Canberra United Championship-winner Grace Gill has been elected to the board of Capital Football.
Gill was one of two new directors voted onto the board in the ACT at Monday’s Annual General Meeting.
“What I bring to the board is a unique perspective not only with my experience as a player but also my professional capacity and the role that I can bring in the way of communications.” Gill, who currently works in the Public Service in Canberra, told www.w-league.com.au.
“While the playing experience is fantastic and gives me an insight into that side of the game, it's more what I can bring to the board in a more holistic approach.”
The 29-year-old, who played one game for Australia back in 2007, has vowed to “bring a unique and valuable perspective to the role”.
“I feel really humbled that they’ve seen confidence in me to add something new to the make-up of the board,” she said.
“Part of my decision around being on the board was looking at the incredible women who I see leading similar paths.
“I’ve witnessed the fantastic work of people like Kate Gill with the PFA and Tal Karp down in Victoria and that’s something that was really influential in more decision.”
The move into the boardroom is a change of pace for Gill, who played with Canberra United in the Westfield W-League between 2008 and 2016.

A central midfielder, Gill was part of the team that won the title in 2012 and 2015 and made 58 appearances for United before she retired before the start of the 2016/17 Season.
