In-form Wellington Phoenix have boosted their striking stocks with the signing of giant Irish international Cillian Sheridan until the end of the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 Season.
The 195cm striker completed his medical on Thursday morning and joins Mark Rudan’s side after leaving Polish club Jagiellonia Białystok.
Sheridan, 29, began his career at Scottish giants Celtic in 2006 and has spent the majority of his career in Scotland.

He has also played for Plymouth Argyle in England’s Championship, as well as stints with CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria and Cypriot sides APOEL FC and Omonoia Nicosia.
He has also represented the Republic of Ireland on three occasions.
“To play in another country with different challenges is always appealing to me,” Sheridan said.
“I have followed the Hyundai A-League and Wellington Phoenix are playing an attractive style and for a footballer you want to enjoy your football and what Mark Rudan is doing, really sold it to me.”
Sheridan has won plenty of silverware in his career, especially at APOEL in Cyprus where he played in the UEFA Champions League Group Stage against the likes of Barcelona, PSG and Ajax.
He also won a domestic treble and double during his time with the club.
“I'm constantly looking to challenge my players,” said Phoenix boss Rudan of Sheridan who has scored 98 goals in his career so far.
“Competition for places is crucial and at this time of the season, it's important to strengthen the squad and add quality.”
Sheridan could make his Phoenix debut as early as Saturday, with the Irishman a chance to feature in the squad against Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium.
