Andrew Pengelly scored nine goals in the Brisbane Strikers’ 12-1 NPL Queensland demolition of Sunshine Coast on the weekend.
Pengelly collected a hat-trick of hat-tricks at Perry Park to bring his tally for the season to 32, as the Strikers heaped more misery on bottom of the ladder Sunshine Coast.
It is the most goals ever scored by a single player in an NPL Queensland match. It is also a new club record for most goals scored by a single Strikers player in any competition.
The 22-year-old has scored goals for fun in recent years at youth and senior level for former team Western Pride, where he played alongside fellow Queensland starlet and current Brisbane Roar hot shot Dylan Wenzel-Halls.
Zach Maltby also scored a hat-trick for Brisbane, who are fifth on the ladder.

New South Wales
Wollongong Wolves are two points shy of securing the NPL NSW Premiership after defeating Sutherland Sharks 4-0.
Lachlan Scott, Thomas James, Takeru Okada and Darcy Madden were among the goals for Luke Wilkshire’s side, who can seal the 2019 title with a win over Blacktown City next Sunday.
Marconi Stallions beat Mt Druitt Town Rangers 4-2 to renter the top five, at the expense of Sydney United 58, who were shocked 2-0 at home by Sydney FC.

Victoria
Liam Boland netted his 21st goal of the season but leaders Avondale could only draw 1-1 with struggling Dandenong Thunder.
That result leaves second-place Heidelberg, who have a game in hand on the frontrunners, five points away from Avondale following their 3-0 win over Bentleigh Greens.
Elsewhere, Brendon Santalab and Adrian Leijer scored as Dandenong City beat Altona Magic 2-1 on the weekend.

Leaders Campbelltown City fell to a shock 2-1 home defeat to Adelaide United on the weekend.
A late goal from Alhassan Toure proved the matchwinner for the young Reds. Meanwhile, Raiders bounced back from their 6-0 loss to Adelaide Comets by easily accounting for bottom club South Adelaide 4-0 on the weekend.
That result keeps the Gepps Cross based side in the hunt for a top-two position after second-place Adelaide Blue Eagles drew 1-1 with Adelaide City.
Adelaide Olympic beat MetroStars 2-1 to hold on to third.

Tasmania
NPL Tasmania leaders Devonport were involved in one of the season’s most extraordinary finishes, securing a 2-2 draw with 9-man Hobart Zebras after a 95th minute equaliser from Daniel Syson.
That result allowed Olympia Warriors to move level on points with the Strikers after beating South Hobart 2-1.

Northern NSW
Edgeworth scored a huge win in the complexion of the title race after beating Maitland 3-1.
With their opponents holding three matches in hand on them, the Eagles knew a win over the Magpies was required for breathing room, and they’ve now got an eight-point gap on the team from the coalfields.
Weston Workers and Broadmeadow Magic remain in second and third respectively after posting 1-0 and 2-1 wins over Valentine and Lambton Jaffas.

Australian Capital Territory
Canberra Olympic showed they’re up for the premiership race by defeating Monaro Panthers 3-2 in the weekend’s second against third contest.
Although they have a game in hand, Olympic trail leaders Tigers FC by five points following the result.
Tigers brushed past cellar-dwellers Riverina Rhinos 2-0, while Woden-Weston and Canberra FC played out a 3-3 thriller.
