NPL preview: Magic chasing more goals, tough start for new Dandenong coaches

With Easter and ANZAC Day now behind us, the National Premier Leagues action continues with some huge match-ups right around the country.

None more so than in Northern NSW where two sides with finals aspirations meet on Saturday as Broadmeadow Magic host Weston Workers.

The Magic are riding high after they put nine goals past Valentine last weekend, while Weston were narrowly beaten by league-leaders Lambton Jaffas.

Elsewhere, the Jaffas take on Newcastle Jets Youth, while Lake Macquarie host Maitland FC.

Victoria

Lowly Dandenong City begin life under Ante Moric and Sasa Ognenovski with a difficult assignment against high-flying Heidelberg United at Olympic Village on Saturday night.

Dandenong have won just one of their first nine games and will need something special to overcome the second-placed Warriors.

League-leaders Avondale FC should have little trouble against struggling Oakleigh Cannons, while Melbourne Knights are in Friday night action against Green Gully.

After no games in the NPL last weekend, action resumes in the Capital Football competition and it’s a big week for defending champions Canberra FC.

Last season’s treble winners have yet to pick up a point from their first two games and face a tough away game against Monaro Panthers.

Tigers FC against Belconnen United is an intriguing clash near the top of the ladder, while first-place Canberra Olympic have the bye.

Current league-leaders Adelaide Blues Eagles host Croydon Kings, while there should be a few goals when Raiders FC take on MetroStars on Saturday night.
