New South Wales
APIA Leichhardt booked their spot in the NSW NPL Grand Final after a dramatic penalty-shootout win over Sydney United.
Goalkeeper Ivan Necevski was the hero, saving Shannon Cole’s spot-kick to send APIA to the decider against Sydney Olympic.
The match finished 1-1 after 120 minutes with Sean Symons equalising after Glen Trifiro gave United the lead.
South Australia
Campbelltown City completed the double in South Australia with a 1-0 Grand Final win over Adelaide City at Coopers Stadium.
In a hard-fought decider, a goal to Yohei Matsumoto two minutes after the break proved the difference to see Campbelltown add the Championship trophy to their Premiership success last month.
Western Australia
Perth Glory is the first team through to the Grand Final in WA after a thrilling penalty shootout win over Perth SC.
After the match finished 3-3, Glory advanced on penalties with goalkeeper Jackson Lee making saves from Matthew Milenkovic and Adrian Madaschi.
Glory will face the winner of Perth SC, who get a second chance, and Cockburn City, who also won via a shootout against Bayswater City after their semi-final ended 3-3.
Australian Capital Territory
Canberra FC will get a crack at Canberra Olympic in the Capital Football Grand Final after a crushing Preliminary Final win over the weekend.
Canberra scored four goals in the second-half – with braces to Kofi Danning and Thomas James – to overcome Tigers FC 5-0.
Victoria
In a huge shock before the Finals Series gets underway, Premiers Heidelberg United have been beaten at home by Avondale FC.
While Heidelberg secured the Premiership a couple of weeks ago, Avondale may have landed a psychological blow ahead of the finals, with a brace to Jonatan Germano and another goal to Liam Boland handing them the win.
Bentleigh Greens warmed up for the finals with a 6-2 demolition of Bulleen Lions.
Queensland
The grand finalists have been decided in the Qld NPL, with Lions FC and Olympic FC winning through to this weekend’s decider after gripping semi-final wins.
It took a penalty shout for Premiers Lions FC to get over Moreton Bay United after scores were locked at 1-1 after 120 minutes.
Meanwhile, Olympic FC had to come from behind to beat Western Pride 2-1, with Alex Smith scoring a second-half double.
Northern NSW
It was second leg semi-final action in Northern NSW over the weekend, with Broadmeadow Magic and Edgeworth Eagles the teams to advance to this weekend’s decider.
Despite losing 1-0 Maitland Magpies, the Magic prevailed 3-2 on aggregate, while Edgeworth won a thrilling tie against Lambton Jaffas.
Tasmania
In the final round of the regular season, Devonport Strikers for the result they needed to wrap up the Premiership.
While they only needed a point to ensure top spot, the Strikers beat Kingborough 4-0 to finish three points clear of South Hobart.
