There will be two Caltex Socceroo stars linking up on England's south coast in the Premier League this season, with Aaron Mooy joining Mathew Ryan at Brighton and Hove Albion.
Mooy, 28, has joined Australian teammate Ryan at the Seagulls from Huddersfield Town after signing a one-year loan deal on transfer deadline day.
According to multiple reports, it is understood Graham Potter's Brighton fought off a number of Premier League clubs for Mooy's signature.
Mooy has starred for Huddersfield for the past three seasons, having initially moved to the Terriers on loan from Manchester City in 2016 and helped the club earn promotion to the Premier League.
The club's two-season stay in the top flight ended with relegation last season, with Mooy departing the club with a tally of seven goals and four assists across 65 Premier League outings.
"We are delighted to welcome Aaron to the club," said head coach Graham Potter. "He has played very well over the past two seasons in the Premier League, and will bring a different option and added competition to our midfield.
“He’s been a talisman for Huddersfield in recent seasons with his performances on the field; and he’s proved to be an excellent professional both on and off the pitch.
“I’m looking forward to working with him, and he is another good addition to our squad ahead of the new season.”
He will now link up with Australian colleague Ryan, who is preparing for his third season between the posts in the Premier League for the Seagulls.
