Melbourne City v Melbourne Victory: match preview

The stakes are high as unbeaten City take on Premiers Victory in the first Melbourne Derby of Westfield W-League Season 2019/20.

Melbourne City very much lost the bragging rights in the state of Victoria last season. Not only did the then three-time defending Champions miss out on the Finals Series altogether, but they were forced to watch Victory celebrate lifting their first ever Premiers Plate.

Add on to that the fact that Victory beat City at home and away in the league campaign, without conceding a goal, and there's no doubt Rado Vidosic's will feel they have a score to settle.

City have shown early signs of turning the tables in 2019/20, winning three of their first four games, including a 2-1 triumph against Champions, Sydney FC, in Round 4.

Jeff Hopkins' side have picked up four points from their opening three games, including an impressive draw with high-flying league leaders Western Sydney Wanderers last week.
