ME Bank green card for fairer play nominations

Only a week into our ME Bank Green Card for Fairer Play competition and we’ve already had some great nominations.

Only a week into our ME Bank Green Card for Fairer Play competition and we-ve already had some great nominations.

Here are some of the acts of Fairer Play that have been nominated so far:

“In a game last weekend in the I.C.F.A my team mate, Darren was fouled just outside the box. The referee gave it but Darren suggested to the referee that there wasn-t much contact so it wasn-t really a free kick. The referee put the ball down for a free kick and Darren Marshall ushered all the other players away before rolling the ball back to the opposing goalkeeper. You don-t usually see acts of sportsmanship like that in amateur football, especially when we were 2-1 behind with 5 minutes to go”.

“Oscar plays for the Hazelbrook U12s. With about 10 minutes to go in an important match with the scores locked at 2-2 Hazelbrook scored a goal. The goal was given and the players started to head back to the centre for the re-start. Without prompting Oscar went up to the ref to say he had handballed. No-body had seen this and there were no calls of handball. The ref reversed his decision and played the free kick. The ref complimented Oscar at the end of the game for his excellent sportsmanship. Hazelbrook did score the winning with a few minutes left”.
