Matildas Abroad Preview: Trophée Féminin concludes, Toppserien in full swing and England prepares

Three Aussies go head-to-head in the Toppserien regular season, while two more will face up in France. Over in England preparations continue for the domestic season.

Norway

Teagan Micah’s Arna-Bjørnar will be hosting Lyn in an 8th vs 9th clash on Saturday at 9:00pm (AEST) as they kick off Round 7 of the Toppserien.

Meanwhile, Clare Polkinghorne and Katrina Gorry’s Avaldsnes IL will take on Karly Røestbakken’s top-of-the-table LSK Kvinner on Sunday at 1:00am (AEST). Gorry will be hoping to finish off the week with a late birthday present of three points.  

Sweden

It was mid-week action for Emily Gielnik as Vittjsö GIK met league-leaders Göteborg on Wednesday in Round 10 of the Damallsvenskan.  

Gielnik recorded her first start for Vittjsö, playing 64 minutes.  However, it wasn't a winning return to a starting line up as two first half goals were enough for Göteborg to notch up a 2-0 victory. 

Netherlands

PSV Eindhoven’s Kyah Simon and Amy Harrison will look to shake off their defeat at the hands of Lyon when they take on Montpellier HSC .  Kicking off at 11.30 (AEST) on Saturday night, it is their second and final match of the Trophée Féminin tournament.  

France

Ellie Carpenter will be looking to build on her Lyon debut as they face Italian champions Juventus in a key test for their Champions League appearance next week.  The match kicks off Sunday morning at 2.00am (AET).

In the same tournament Mary Fowler and Montepellier will meet PSV Eindhoven.  

England

Over in England, it's new season, new threads for the Westfield Matildas as the last weeks of preparation continue.  

Sam Kerr had her first run in the new Chelsea kit as the Blues underwent a pre-season tune up.  

 

Arsenal's photo day saw Lydia Williams have a peach of time while Steph Catley swapped out the blue of Melbourne City for the Gunners' red.
