Matchweek 12 preview: Melbourne City v Macarthur FC

After hitting scorching-hot form while smashing Melbourne Victory for six, Melbourne City head into their first ever meeting with Macarthur FC on Friday looking for a fourth straight win.

Patrick Kisnorbo’s side were forced to navigate their way out of a four-match losing streak but they have since found their rhythm, and it culminated in a thumping triumph over their crosstown rivals where they rallied to score five second half-goals last Saturday.

That stretch of strong form has lifted the Bundoora club to fifth in the ladder ahead of their clash with the competition newcomers at AAMI Park. The Bulls have found consistency in their debut season, racking up 17 points from 11 matches to sit in second place in the standings.

Macarthur play their fourth straight match on the road, sandwiching losses against Western United and Central Coast Mariners with a victory over Sydney FC. Ante Milicic’s team will expect to put up a far better fight against City than rock bottom Victory did last week.
