Laurie Schwab

The son of a German migrant, Laurie Schwab grew up in St Albans, Victoria. As a young man Schwab became a soccer journalist with The Age newspaper. He was noted for his accuracy and was highly respected by Soccer Australia and National Soccer League club officials and players. Schwab was editor of a weekly soccer newspaper published by The Age, and also commentated on the game for ABC Radio (Melbourne) until he died in 1996, aged 50.
