A look back at Kristen Hamilton's outstanding Westfield W-League season

Western Sydney Wanderers striker Kristen Hamilton has capped off her stellar first Westfield W-League season in style after winning the Julie Dolan Medal on Thursday night.

The American forward joins an illustrious list of former winners including Westfield Matildas Sam Kerr, Clare Polkinghorne, Tameka Yallop, Kyah Simon and Emily van Egmond.

Hamilton joined the Wanderers ahead of the 2019/20 season having won America's National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) with North Carolina Courage in 2019.

The 28-year-old arrived with a fleet of fellow top-draw signings by Wanderers boss Dean Heffernan, and Hamilton's impact was both instant and impressive as the Wanderers turned heads with their rapid start to the Westfield W-League campaign.

The Wanderers finished fourth on the Westfield W-League table to reach the Westfield W-League Finals Series for the first time in their history, and Hamilton had an enormous part to play in their best-ever campaign.

The forward scored seven goals, including a vital brace against Perth Glory in the last round of the season in a 3-2 win which confirmed their place in the 2019/20 Finals Series.

Hamilton's seven goals handed her an equal share in the Westfield W-League Golden Boot, which she split with Perth Glory's Morgan Andrews, Melbourne Victory's Natasha Dowie and the Sky Blues' Remy Siemsen.

Hamilton's first strike came in Round 1, which she followed up with an emphatic hat-trick against Brisbane Roar in Round 3.

A goal against Canberra in Round 7 took her tally to five before her brace against Perth in Round 14 helped Hamilton leapfrog a number of players on five and six goals for the season and place herself amongst the best goal scorers in the league for the season.

In her 12 starts throughout the season, Hamilton recorded two assists, laid 23 key passes, won 15 fouls including a penalty and scored her seven goals at a rate of 149 minutes per goal.

Hamilton played her part as a a key cog in the Wanderers' best-ever Westfield W-League campaign, picked up the Golden Boot and now the Julie Dolan Medal for her consistently sparkling performances - an outstanding list of accolades to match her similarly outstanding first season of Australian football.
