Westfield Matildas star Sam Kerr has been rewarded for her red-hot form by being named National Women’s Soccer League Player of the Week in back-to-back rounds.
Chicago Red Stars striker Kerr has been crowned NSWL’s top goalscorer in the previous two seasons, with 22 and 20 goals respectively, and the 25-year-old shot to the top of the Golden Boot standings once again following her efforts in Round 6.

Kerr fired the Red Stars to the top of the NWSL ladder, scoring both goals in their 2-1 road victory against fellow Westfield Matilda Clare Polkinghorne’s Houston Dash.
That match-winning display backed up her Round 5 heroics, when Kerr hit a double in a 3-1 statement win against reigning champions the North Carolina Courage.
Kerr has scored six goals in six games in the United States this season. The Player of the Week award is voted for by NWSL journalists.
