John De Witt

John De Witt played for Hurlstone Park before joining the Army and was posted to Darwin during World War II. 

After spending time in Melbourne and Sydney, where he coached and formed teams, John joined the Sutherland Referees Association and reached Class One.  John  was posted to Singapore in 1970 where he became the only Australian registered with the British Army Football Association as a Class One referee.  In 1979, John became treasurer of the NSW division of the referees’ association,  assumed an inspector’s role, was made NSW Division Life Member and in 1988 became a National Soccer League (NSL) inspector.
