Jackson: Jets must find their feet in front of goal

They may only have one point from their first three games but Newcastle Jets defender Lachlan Jackson believes his team aren’t far from being the finished product.

A draw away to Adelaide United is sandwiched between losses to Wellington Phoenix and Melbourne Victory and it doesn’t get any easier on Saturday when the Jets host defending Premiers Sydney FC in Hyundai A-League Remembrance Round.

For Jackson however, the final product is all that has eluded the Jets so far.

“I guess we have to find our feet and deliver in the final third,” Jackson said.

“We created a lot of chances in the last few games but I think if we can just work on that final ball and that finishing off, our defence has been quite sound.”

Jackson, who has started all three games so far, said the side was looking forward to facing Sydney and that they had a plan to force them out of their comfort zone.

“They’ve started well this season so we know what we’re going to be up against, Sydney is a great side,” he said.

“It’s always a great clash up here and I think down there we were pretty even last year, a loss, a draw and a win so I think it’s going to be similar this year especially with the Remembrance Round, everyone just wants to get out there and play good footy.

‘We’ll start off being as aggressive as we can with our press and obviously try and win the ball as high up the pitch and play in their half.”
