Jane Oakley

Jane Oakley has been a tireless pioneer of women's soccer for more than 20 years. Oakley became leading Victorian administrator after a successful playing career that began with Dandenong North in 1980. She represented Victoria from 1983-1995 and Australia from 1984-1995, winning a total of 35 caps. In 1985 Oakley became a qualified coach. She worked as a development officer for the Victorian Soccer Federation and in 1990 joined the Women's Association. From 1994 she coached at senior and youth levels. Oakley was the assistant coach of the national Under 19 team in 1998, coach of the national women's Under 16 team, head coach of the national training centre in 1999, and assistant caoch of the national senior team in 2000. She was awarded the 2000 Australian Sports Medal.
