‘It could have been more’ – Goodship delighted with Roar attack
Brisbane Roar coach Jake Goodship has praised double trouble duo Carson Pickett and Rylee Baisden after they ran riot against Canberra United on Sunday.
The Americans were superb for the Roar as they kept their hopes of a top four finish alive with a rampant 5-0 win over Canberra United at Lions Stadium.
They combined for the Roar’s opener just 11 minutes in as Pickett complemented Baisden’s neat cut-back with a thumping finish.
Baisden doubled the lead from the penalty spot shortly after before the Roar added three goals in the final ten minutes – Pickett delivering a pin-point headed finish and Baisden slotting a one-on-one finish to secure their hauls.

With the Roar needing to now win their final round clash with Melbourne City to secure a top four finish, Goodship told brisbaneroar.com he couldn’t be more delighted with his side’s scoring form.
“It’s fantastic that we took our chances and made the most of key moments – it could have been more,” Goodship said.
“Great to see Carson and Rylee in particular [scoring goals], they’ve been working incredibly hard and they’re fantastic role models around the group.”
Despite last week's surprise 4-2 defeat away to Perth Glory, there was no sign of a drop in confidence from the Roar as they secured a third clean sheet from their last four games.
However, with the pressure piling up he sees no reason to drastically alter his squads approach against the Premiers next weekend.
“We’ll go into the game [against City] to win – we don’t change what we do," he explained.
“We play how we play, focus on what we do, execute better and better and see where next week takes us.”
The match was the last at home for the Roar this season and Goodship said he was delighted by the turnout of 2,893.
“It’s the perfect way to finish off our final home game of the season in front of a massive crowd too,” he concluded.
For the visitors, the result wasn’t what they wanted as they failed to give a winning send-off to coach Heather Garriock in her final match in charge.
However, post-match, Garriock’s thoughts turned to her captain and former teammate, Leena Khamis, who was revealed to be playing in her last Westfield W-League match.
Garriock took to Twitter to recognise Khamis: “Thank you for being you. So many memories,” she tweeted.
With a bye in Round 14, Canberra currently sit sixth in the Westfield W-League table but could drop a place depending on other results in the final round.
