Inman sings praises of 'little bro' Muratovic after match-winning cameo

Brad Inman heaped praise on his ‘little bro’ Mirza Muratovic after setting up the rising star to score Brisbane Roar’s winner against Western United.

The 20-year-old striker pounced nine minutes after coming on as a 52nd-minute substitute when Inman snatched the ball from the feet of Hyundai A-League debutant Tomoki Imai.

That moment proved the difference as Robbie Fowler’s side made it four wins from five matches to climb four points clear of the Hyundai A-League newcomers in the race for finals football.

Muratovic grabbed his first competition goal last week 13 minutes after taking the field against Adelaide United and Inman is doing everything to can to help the youngsters ascent.

“He’s been with us since pre-season and you can see he’s a tremendous striker,” Inman said.

“I look at him as a little bro, I try to look after him so I’m happy for him.”

Muratovic could not hide his delight after netting once again, this time in front of his family and friends who had travelled down to Ballarat from Bathurst.

“It’s an awesome feeling. It doesn’t get better than that, especially away from home,” Muratovic said.

“Ever since I’ve come in, we’ve had a bit of a streak – i’m not saying it’s me – but it’s been good,” he added.

“The vibe around training has been great. Everyone is really positive and its a really good feeling at the moment.

“I just want to continue on that and hope to put ourselves positively into the finals.”

Besart Berisha touched the ball only 27 times in 90 minutes at Mars Stadium, Ballarat.

United striker Besart Berisha delivered a damning assessment of a toothless performance by the Green and Black.

Mark Rudan’s side have won only one game in seven since beating Brisbane 2-0 in December and they did not record a single attempt on target at Mars Stadium, as Roar led the shot count 13-5 despite United holding 61% of possession.

“Nothing happened… we played really bad,” Berisha said.

“We cannot win games like this. We did not deserve to win the way we played.

“We have to go again, a short turn around, and we have to play better football because this was not good.”
