Harry Souttar claims the Player of the Month award

Socceroos defender Harry Souttar has been recognised for his brilliant form for Stoke City by being awarded the Player of the Month award for October.

Souttar, 22, had only made his league debut for the club at the end of September.

However, he cemented a spot in the Starting XI with his performances in October, with a number of man-of-the-match performances.

The central defender played every minute of Stoke's seven Championship and League Cup fixtures, helping the side to four wins, three clean sheets, and a place in the last eight of the Cup.

And he convincingly claimed the Player of the Month award with over 57% of the total votes.

"I think any award voted for by the fans means the most," Souttar told Stoke City.

"Obviously it was a good month for me, and you could say the same for the team as well. We picked up a few good results.

"We just have to build on that now. It’s early days, and we still have a lot of games to play, particularly after the international break where it's Saturday, Tuesday all the way up to Christmas.

"We know it’s going to be busy, but as a squad there is nothing better than playing every couple of days and that’s what we want to do."
