Former Roar marquee signs with new club

Former Brisbane Roar striker Massimo Maccarone has found a new club, signing with third tier side Carrarese in Italy.

Maccarone, who turns 39 in September, was released by Roar at the end of the 2017/18 Season.

He scored 10 times in 30 appearances for the club in all competitions.

"I would like to thank the players, coaches and supporters for making me feel so welcome. I really enjoyed my time here in Australia," Maccarone said at the time.

"I am disappointed that we couldn't make the Grand Final, but I leave with good memories."

Maccarone signed a one-year deal with the Tuscan side.

“The bomber of Oleggio, who has scored over 200 goals in his career, will be linked to the company of Piazza Vittorio Veneto with an annual contract effective from 1 July 2018 ,” the club said on it’s website.

Maccarone has enjoyed a decorated career playing for the likes of Empoli, Parma Siena, Sampdoria and Middlesbrough.
