Round 5: Sydney FC v Melbourne Victory

The Hyundai A-league returns after the international break with a Big Blue bang.

One of the competition's oldest and fiercest rivalries gets better every year, a mouth-watering prospect in view of last year's Semi Final epic.

Terry Antonis' sensational winner deep into extra time of a five-goal thriller capped a remarkable redemption arc against his former club and set the stage for another blockbuster trio of fixtures.

The first sees Sydney FC seek a revenge at what should be a rocking Jubilee Stadium.

Round 5: Perth Glory v Central Coast Mariners

This clash will be as much about the entertainment off the pitch as on it.

Perth Glory are flying at the top of the ladder and it will be fascinating to see how many fans get on board with the 'Poppalution'.

nib Stadium will surely go close to capacity when Glory head back home for their first match since moving two points clear in the win over Adelaide United.

Can Central Coast play party poopers and halt the momentum?

Round 6: Melbourne City v Newcastle Jets

The two combatants from one of the more unforgettable matches in recent Hyundai A-League memory come together to conclude Round 6 at AAMI Park.

Only this time, Riley McGree has swapped sides.

The midfielder's unforgettable scorpion kick in last season's Finals Series helped take the Jets through to the Grand Final, but he'll be wearing City colours on this occasion.

This encounter will provide crucial clues as to how two teams at similar stages of their development are tracking.

Round 7: Melbourne Victory v Adelaide United

There's a big few weeks ahead for Kevin Muscat's Melbourne Victory, who host old enemies Adelaide United two weeks after the trip to Sydney FC.

Marco Kurz's men will be looking to make amends for their narrow Elimination Final defeat in April, when Nikola Mileusnic had them in front just before the hour.

Recent results aside, there's always plenty of feeling in the eagerly anticipated 'original rivalry'.

Do not be surprised if a few bookings are handed out.

Round 8: Western Sydney Wanderers v Sydney FC

Calendars should already be marked for this one.

The second Sydney Derby of the season is sure to be just as spicy as the first, with ANZ Stadium the scene in Round 8.

Sydney FC will head in with bragging rights gained from the October victory that came courtesy of goals from Adam Le Fondre and Alex Brosque.

But Markus Babbel's side showed enough in that drama-filled meeting to suggest the gap is closing, making the rematch a game not to be missed.
