Ex-Roar star Borrello scores again in Germany

Brandon Borrello has continued his goalscoring form in Germany to help Kaiserslautern to a much-needed win in the 2.Bundesliga overnight.

The 22-year-old attacker netted his side’s opener inside 20 minutes as they recorded a 2-1 victory away to fellow strugglers SV Darmstadt.

Receiving the ball on the edge of the box, Borrello showed quick feet before sliding a well-placed strike into the bottom left corner.

It was Borrello’s second goal in three matches for Kaiserslautern, with the ex-Roar attacker netting in a 3-1 win over Holstein Kiel a fortnight ago.

Philipp Mwene sealed the win for the visitors’ with a second just past the hour mark before Felix Platte grabbed a consolation for Darmstadt in stoppage time.

The win moves bottom-placed Kaiserslautern to within a point of Darmstadt in 17th and Borrello’s outfit are now just four points adrift of safety.

Kaiserslautern are next in action on Saturday away to FC Erzgebirge Aue.
