CommBank Matildas captain Sam Kerr will be unavailable for the final two internationals of 2023 after a foot injury ruled out the forward from Australia’s training camp and two-match series against Canada.
Following the weekend’s Women’s Super League action, Kerr joins Mackenzie Arnold (arm), Charlotte Grant (hamstring) and Holly McNamara (knee) on the sidelines and will remain at Chelsea WFC to receive treatment.
Replacing Kerr will be midfielder Sarah Hunter with the 20-year-old earning her first senior national team call-up.
A former CommBank Young Matildas FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup captain and Sydney FC Premiership and Championship player, Hunter plies her club trade with UEFA Women’s Champions League side Paris FC. After a strong start to the French Division 1 Féminine season, Paris FC currently sit second in the league behind Ellie Carpenter’s Olympique Lyon.
We can today confirm that Sam Kerr will not feature in Australia’s forthcoming international fixtures and will remain with the club for treatment on a foot injury.

The 20-year-old has been a key member of the U23 Women’s National Team side over the past two years and joins Amy Sayer and Charlize Rule as part of the cohort of strongly performing U23 players to be rewarded with senior call ups.
