Club legend returns to Brisbane Roar

Legendary Brisbane Roar striker Henrique has joined the club’s academy set up.

Henrique, 34, will be the new head coach of Brisbane’s U16 squad which plays in the National Premier Leagues Queensland U18 competition.

The Brazilian striker – who scored in two Grand Finals and won three Championships with the Queenslanders before departing at the end of last season – said he was honoured to return to Brisbane in a coaching capacity.

“The opportunity to coach at Brisbane Roar means a lot to me. I’ll take the role on with all my heart and hopefully it will be the start of something big for me,” Henrique told the club’s website.

“Coaching was something I had in my mind to look at after football. As a player, I always liked the tactical side of things and it was important to my game - things like knowing where the space was and how to take advantage of the opposition.”
