Clare Hunt signs for Paris Saint-Germain F.C

CommBank Matildas' defender Clare Hunt has officially signed for Paris Saint-Germain for the upcoming Division 1 Féminine season on a three-year deal, signing her first overseas contract.

Australia’s newest squad member signs with PSG after spending the last two seasons with the Western Sydney Wanderers and joins Ellie Carpenter in the French league, signing a deal with the side until 2026.

This will be the defender’s first overseas contract, having previously played with Canberra United and the Western Sydney Wanderers in the Liberty A-League.

An impressive FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign saw the defender feature in every game for Australia, playing every single minute in Australia’s best-ever finish at a FIFA World Cup, one of three players in the squad to do so.

PSG finished second in the D1 last season, with Carpenter’s Lyon claiming the title and beating the side in the Coupe de France final.

"I'm very happy to be joining Paris Saint-Germain. It was a personal goal of mine to play football outside Australia, and to join a very big club. I know I'm going to progress, and I can't wait to get started!" Hunt said to psg.fr.

"I'm trying to keep an open mind because I know it's clearly going to be different to what I've experienced before. But thanks to the experience I've gained in the World Cup, I think I've got what it takes to do well in this championship. I think I'm still going to make a lot of progress, and I can't wait to see what I can show on French pitches."

Hunt becomes the eighth player to join Paris Saint-Germain for the upcoming season, joining the likes of defenders Nicole Payne from Nigeria and French international Aissatou Tounkara from Manchester United.
