Brisbane Roar have won two on the trot, but there’s still plenty of room for improvement, according to their head coach Jake Goodship.
The assessment comes after the Roar let slip an early two-goal lead in their 3-2 win over Adelaide United on Saturday afternoon.
The Roar were on fire early against the competition’s bottom-placed side when Indiah-Riley Paige and Hayley Raso struck a goal apiece inside the opening quarter hour at Lions Stadium.
However, despite controlling the tempo of the game and fashioning numerous chances, Roar failed to fully capitalise on their dominance.
By contrast, a tenacious Adelaide made more with less in the final third, as Mary Fowler and Mallory Weber netted either side of half-time to draw the visitors level.

As a draw loomed, the Roar’s blushes were spared only by a late strike from Raso – backing up her match-winner last week against Canberra United.
Speaking post-match, Goodship admitted to brisbaneroar.com.au that his side should have put the contest to bed prior to half-time.
“We took our foot off the gas a little bit,” he explained.
“We got a little frustrated and it affected our performance which we addressed at half-time.
"We were exceptional in the first 20 minutes – scored two and could have scored more. We took our chances in that period, but we needed to continue that into half-time.”

The win lifts the Roar to within a single point of the Westfield W-League top four as they play catch-up after losing their first two matches of the season following an opening round bye.
However, Goodship suggested his side’s attack – whose eight goals this season are the equal most in the Westfield W-League – are the catalyst to string further wins together in coming weeks.
“Two wins on the bounce gives us a bit of momentum now,” Goodship said.
“We’re a side that will always create chances and we’re confident that we can continue on with this."
The Roar’s next test comes on the road against defending Premiers Melbourne Victory next Saturday in their final match before Christmas.
