Brisbane Roar v Western United FC: match preview

Robbie Fowler's Brisbane Roar will be eager to bounce back from the 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Champions Sydney FC and they get the chance to do so against Western United on Friday.

The Roar will be looking to break their unwanted record of being the only Hyundai A-League side without a first-half goal, while Mark Rudan's team are aiming to snap their habit of conceding the opening goal, which they have done in their past seven games.

The Green and Black may fall behind often but they have proved their ability to find a response, as they did in the 3-1 triumph against Melbourne Victory. Ex-Roar supremo Besart Berisha is clearly a man in form and he proved last Sunday that he does not lose his appetite against his former clubs.

Those three points got Rudan's side out of a three-match losing funk, keeping them fourth in the Hyundai A-League ladder. Brisbane are five points back in ninth and a win at Suncorp Stadium would close the gap and keep them in touching distance of the top six.
