Aussies Abroad: Ryan clean sheet puts Brighton in reach of safety

It may be an Easter long-weekend but that does not mean there is any less action for our overseas Caltex Socceroos.

A clean sheet from Mat Ryan helped secure a vital point for Brighton & Hove Albion in the race for English Premier League survival, as they held Wolverhampton Wanderers to a 0-0 draw.

The Caltex Socceroos shot stopper made five saves as Wolves dominated possession but could not make a breakthrough at Molineux.

Ryan praised the performance on the club’s official website after the match.

“The point means a lot in the context of things, it almost feels like we’ve won the game,” Ryan said.

“With our superior goal difference, it could prove to be big come the end of the season – any points are vital at this stage of the campaign.

“Given our recent run it feels good to come here and give a reaction, and the clean sheet is testament to the effort of everyone today.”
