Aussies Abroad Preview: Duke's J2 League play-offs begin, Boyle vs Strain and Baccus

In another big weekend of Aussies Abroad action, Mitch Duke begins his quest for promotion to Japan's top flight while a number of our Subway Socceroos face off in Scotland once more.

Asia

Starting in the J2 League, Mitch Duke's Fagiano Okayama begin their J2 League play-off campaign with a tie against Peter Cklamovski's Montedio Yamagata on Sunday at 4pm (AEDT). 

Okayama finished third in the J2 League while Montedio finished in sixth. If Okayama are to beat Yamagata, they will set up a tie against the winner of Roasso Kumamoto vs Oita Trinita for the chance to face the third-bottom team from the J1 League for promotion. 


Elsewhere in Japan, Adam Taggart could feature in Cerezo Osaka's second last J1 League match against Kyoto Sanga on Saturday at 5pm (AEDT).  Cerezo currently sit in fourth and are four points behind Sanfrecce in third. 

Mitch Langerak will also be in J1 League action when Nagoya Grampus face FC Tokyo on Saturday at 5pm (AEDT).

United Kingdom

Starting in Scotland, where Martin Boyle's Hibernian will face off against Ryan Strain and Keanu Baccus' St Mirren on Sunday at 1am (AEDT). 

Baccus will be hoping to continue his positive form after being included in the SPFL Team of the Week. The Socceroos midfielder was in good form once again as St Mirren beat Dundee United with a 2-1 victory last weekend.

After improving his goalscoring exploits already this season, Baccus was the interception king in their last match as his ball-winning abilities set up St Mirren for several threatening counters to earn the 24-year-old a Team of the Week spot.


Hibs are fifth in the Scottish Premiership having played one game more than St Mirren, who sit in fourth position. 

Aaron Mooy could also be in action when Celtic travel to Livingston on Sunday at 11pm (AEDT). 

Mooy also featured in Celtic's Champions League by coming off the bench in the 65th minute as the Hoops drew 1-1 against Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.

Elsewhere in Scotland, Cameron Devlin will be hoping to put in another positive display when Heart of Midlothian face Ross County on Monday at 2am (AEDT).  

Elsewhere in Scotland, Aziz Behich's Dundee United face Motherwell on Sunday at 1am (AEDT).

In England, Tom Rogic will be hoping to make another Championship appearance when West Bromwich Albion face Sheffield United on Saturday at 10:30pm (AEDT). 

Elsewhere in the Championship, Kenny Dougall's Blackpool also take on Coventry on Sunday at 1am (AEDT).

Riley McGree's Middlesbrough will also face off against Preston on Sunday at 1am (AEDT). It will be McGree's first match under new manager Michael Carrick, who was recently appointed in his first role as a permanent boss.

Middlesbrough have been struggling and sit 21st in the standings after 16 games - one point above the relegation zone.


Bailey Wright's Sunderland also take on Luton Town on Sunday at 1am (AEDT). 

In injury news, Harry Souttar could be in line for more minutes with Stoke City's under-21s play West Brom under- 21s on Tuesday at 6am (AEDT).

Souttar played his first 90 minutes since returning from and ACL injury on Friday in a 1-1 draw with Burnley under-21s. 


In Olyroos Abroad news, goalkeeper Nick Bilokapic could feature on the bench when Huddersfield face Millwall at 1am (AEDT) on Sunday. 

In League Two, goalkeeper Jacob Chapman could feature for Salford City when they face Leyton Orient on Sunday at 1am (AEDT). Chapman was an unused substitute as Salford beat Hartlepool 2-0 on Wednesday.

Lachlan Brook could also appear in League Two as Crewe Alexandra take on Barrow on Sunday at 1am (AEDT). Brook came off the bench in the 70th minute as Crewe dre 1-1 with AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday.

Europe

Starting in Germany, where Jackson Irvine and Connor Metcalfe could be in action when St. Pauli face league leaders Darmstadt on Sunday at 5:30am (AEDT). 


In Denmark, Mat Ryan's FC Copenhagen take on Randers on Sunday at 1am (AEDT). Copenhagen are eight in the Danish Superliga and in need of points to move out of the relegation round. 

Elsewhere in Denmark, Joel King's Odense Boldklub face FC Midtjylland on Tuesday at 5am (AEDT).

In Serie B, Fran Karačić and Brescia Calcio face Genoa on Sunday at 1:15am (AEDT). Brescia are sixth in Serie B, four points off the league leaders Frosinone.

In France, Denis Genreau's Toulouse FC face Lens on Saturday at 6am (AEDT) as they look to bounce back from last week's draw. Toulouse currently sit in 10th on the Ligue 1 table. 

In Belgium, Jason Davidson and James Jeggo's K.A.S. Eupen face off against Anderlecht on Sunday at 11pm (AEDT). 

In Spain, Awer Mabil could be in action when Cádiz CF face Atlético de Madrid on Sunday at 1:15am (AEDT). 

Tyrese Francois' HNK Gorica face Slaven Belupo on Monday at 3:30am (AEDT) in the Croatian Football League.  Francois played 90 minutes and scored his first Gorica goal in a 3-1 loss to HNK Hajduk Split on Thursday.


In Olyroos abroad news, Alou Kuol could also feature for VfB Stuttgart II when they take on Lehnerz on Monday at 12am (AEDT).

Europe

  • In Austria, James Holland's FK Austria Wien take on Altach on Monday at 12:30am (AEDT) in the Austrian Bundesliga. 
  • In Germany, John Iredale's SV Wehen Wiesbaden take on MSV Duisburg on Saturday at 4am (AEDT) in the 3. Liga.
  • In Croatia, Anthony Kalik's Hajduk Split take on NK Lokomotiva on Monday at 1am (AEDT) while Deni Juric's HNK Gorica face Slaven Belupo on Monday at 3:30am (AEDT) in the Croatian Football League.

United Kingdom

  • In the England Championship, Callum Elder's Hull City face Blackburn Rovers on Sunday at 1am (AEDT).
  • Massimo Luongo could feature for Middlesbrough against Preston on Sunday at 1am (AEDT).
  • In League One, Caleb Watts could feature for Morecambe against Wycombe on Sunday at 1am (AEDT).
  • Elsewhere in League One, Jack Iredale's Bolton Wanderers face Oxford United on Sunday at 1am (AEDT).

Asia & The Middle East

  • In the Israeli Premier League, Nikita Rukavytsya's Maccabi Haifa will be in action against Ashdod on Sunday at 1am (AEDT). 
  • Stefan Mauk could also be in action in the J2 League when Fagiano Okayama face Montedio Yamagata on Sunday at 4pm (AEDT) as the play-offs begin.
