Adam Taggart seals a move to Japan

Socceroos striker Adam Taggart has sealed a move to Japan, signing with J.League side Cerezo Osaka for the 2021 season.

Taggart, 27, has spent the last two years in Korea Republic with Suwon Bluewings, winning the Golden Boot in his first campaign with the club.

However, things were a bit tougher in his second year, with Suwon finishing second last on the table, but avoiding relegation with a strong showing in the relegation round.

Taggart - a 10-time Socceroo - joins Cerezo for the 2021 J.League season, which has not yet set a date for kick off.

Cerezo finished fourth in the season just gone, missing out on an AFC Champions League qualifying spot - taken by Mitch Langerak's Nagoya Grampus - by three points.

On moving to Cerezo, where he will join fellow Australian Pierce Waring, Taggart said in a statement:  "I am very excited to be able to go to Cerezo Osaka.

"Cerezo Osaka has a very good history and is a wonderful club.

"I am very happy because Japan is a place I always wanted to play, especially after I came to Japan last year.

"I will contribute to the club next year and I'm excited about what I can do."
