A-League Save of Matchweek 3 - Daniel Margush

Daniel Margush came up with some big saves to preserve Western Sydney Wanderers' lead against the Newcastle Jets, and his effort to deny Valentino Yuel was ‘Save of Matchweek 3’ worthy.

The 23-year-old gloveman made a superb reaction stop, diving quickly low to his right, after Jets attacker Yuel fired a rifled right-footed shot past the outstretched legs of Ziggy Gordan and Graham Dorrans.

Margush parried the ball safely away from goal in the 32nd minute to protect the Wanderers' slender lead, after Ziggy Gordon had opened the scoring at McDonald Jones Stadium with a seventh-minute header from James Troisi's corner.

Tate Russell's ‘Goal of Matchweek 3’ effort extended the advantage in the 57th minute and the Red and Black claimed their first win of the season, 2-1, despite Margush being beaten by Jets captain Nigel Boogard in the 73rd minute.

SAVE: Margush - Western Sydney's shot-stopper cannot be beaten

Margush played seven A-League games for hometown club Adelaide United between 2015 and 2018, but went 23 months without pulling on the gloves in the competition before signing for the Red and Black and earning the goalkeeper's jersey.
