Ziegler and Bridge step up fitness for Wanderers ahead of Round 5

Patrick Ziegler and Mark Bridge are among four Western Sydney Wanderers stepping up their match fitness ahead of Round 5 of the Hyundai A-League.

Both Ziegler and Kosta Grozos have been sidelined for six weeks due to respective knee injuries but have been able to increase their involvement in training during the international break.

Ziegler is set to join full training during the next week after completing a running program, as the 28-year-old German sets his focus on making his debut for Markus Babbel's side following his move from FC Kaiserslautern in the off-season.

The double boost adds to Bridge’s imminent return from a calf injury. Bridge and Grozos travelled with the squad for their 2-2 draw with Brisbane Glory in Mudgee.

Roly Bonevacia also sat out the Round 4 draw but joins those returning to full training after also recovering from a calf injury.

However, Ruon Tongyik remains sidelined for a further four weeks with knee and ankle injuries sustained after Round 2.

Western Sydney kick-off Round 5 of Hyundai A-League action as they host Newcastle Jets on Friday, November 23.
