Young Socceroos win AFF opener in Vietnam

The Young Socceroos have got off to a winning start at the AFF Under-19 Championships, disposing of a plucky Cambodia 2-0 at the Youth Football Training Centre on Monday night.

Heavy rain prior to kick off made conditions difficult for the Australians to play their slick football but their quality eventually shone through in the second half.

The Young Socceroos dominated most of the match but had to wait until just after the hour mark to get the breakthrough.

A mad scramble inside the Cambodian box ended with George Blackwood’s effort being turned into the back of the net by defender Cheng Meng.
