Aaron Mooy is set to meet the young American girl who gained inspiration from watching the midfielder play for the Caltex Socceroos at last year’s FIFA World Cup.
Bella, a seven-year-old from Dallas, lost her hair during treatment for brain cancer and became a Huddersfield Town fan after seeing Mooy playing for Australia in Russia.
Bella’s parents even purchased her a full Terriers playing kit with ‘Mooy’ emblazoned on the back.
Having become aware of Bella’s story last year, Huddersfield have kept a close eye on the youngster’s journey and have now offered her the trip of a lifetime.
The Terriers are flying Bella and her father to the UK to meet Mooy and be special guests of the club for the upcoming Premier League match against Leicester City next month.
“Everyone at the club is looking forward to welcoming Bella over for her special trip in early April,” Huddersfield Town’s Commercial Director Sean Jarvis.
“Her story and bravery are extraordinary and she thoroughly deserves what should hopefully be a very special experience.
“The fact that she relates to Aaron’s shaved head is really beautiful and as soon as Aaron heard, he shared our desire to do something special for Bella and her family.”
Bella’s mum, Lauren added: “During her radiation treatment, Bella watched the FIFA World Cup with Daddy and saw Aaron Mooy playing. She had recently lost her hair due to treatment and was excited to see a player who looked like her.
“We decided to order her a Mooy uniform a few months ago, thinking she might wear it at Halloween, or even just for fun; something she could wear and hopefully not worry about the fact that she had lost her hair…she loved it.”
